We're adopting! Steve and I are well into starting our process of an international adoption. We are really excited about growing our family this way. Even though the blog is just beginning today, I have kept a journal along the way and will fill in the details of what has happened so far with back dated journal entries. So you'll see the dates jump back a little after today, I'll try to post a new blog entry every couple of weeks or so.
Here goes..........
We have begun a journey together as a family, as a couple and as individuals. The outcome of this journey is undecided and out of our control. There may be a celebration, or there may be great heartbreak. Either way, we will want to have others beside us who can share in our joy or share in our sorrow. I think that in order to truly rejoice or mourn with us, you need to be a part of the waiting, longing, hoping and disappointments that will be a part of our journey.
If you are reading this, you must know me, at least a little (I hope). So you’ll know it’s entirely not my style to share my feelings about things. While this usually works for me, I would like to chronicle this journey for a few reasons.
Firstly for the reasons above, it is my hope that this will end in great celebration, and a party of 7 or 8, while fun, isn’t as great as joy shared among many.
Secondly, I think it’s important to share how God works through situations to shape and mold us. There have been other times in my life that God has revealed himself to me through situations and because I’ve been too guarded to be vulnerable as things unfolded, opportunities to encourage others have been missed. Sure, you can tell the story later, but there is something about being alongside someone as they journey that is powerful.
Thirdly, I’m going to keep you updated this way for selfish reasons. There will be stretches of time where nothing will happen, just waiting, and rather than have to repeat discouraging news over and over (rather depressing) it is my hope that you can keep updated here. Having said that, this blog isn’t a venue to avoid conversation J So much like pregnant ladies posting blurry pictures of their ultrasounds, with great excitement and hope that everything will work out, here you will find small snapshots of our journey to grow our family.
I'm so excited for you guys! This is awesome news :)
